[et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text”]From August to October 2024, the PEACE for Nature project gathered young climate activists and changemakers through a series of six engaging online sessions. Focusing on climate action, civic engagement, and advocacy, these sessions provided participants with essential skills and knowledge to strengthen their local initiatives, building a foundation for effective environmental justice work.

The first session set the stage for peer learning as participants showcased their local climate actions, sharing both achievements and challenges. Breakout discussions allowed participants to exchange ideas and gain fresh perspectives, sparking actionable insights for enhancing their community impact. The following session turned toward creating a collaborative climate action toolkit. Participants brainstormed a practical and adaptable toolkit structure, ensuring it could support the needs of diverse local initiatives.

The third session featured guest speakers from various climate movements who offered valuable insights into effective organisational engagement. Through connecting with experienced activists, participants learned how to navigate roles within climate organisations and develop impactful connections that bolster their work.

Advocacy skills took centre stage in the fourth session, where participants explored how to draft effective proposals and resolutions. With guidance on SCI’s organisational structure and best practices for proposing resolutions. This session provided information on how to communicate your climate-related goals within SCI and advocate for policy improvements.

In the fifth session, experts from the JRC and DG COMM addressed the pressing issue of climate disinformation. They provided strategies for recognizing and countering false narratives, a crucial skill that empowers participants to advocate from an informed, truthful position.

The series concluded with a future-focused session led by SCI’s Climate Team. Together with participants, they developed a comprehensive climate action plan for 2025, offering guidance on designing impactful, community-centred projects.

For those who couldn’t attend, the recordings are now available HERE enjoy watching.
